Who Is Nobuko Takada?
Nobuko Takada is a popular Japanese idol whose dedicated fandom includes Aoi Todo as her most ardent supporter, and whose taste in men — she has stated that dumb guys are perfect — happens to align exactly with Todo’s self-image.
She is tall with long black hair tied into twin tails and wispy bangs. She wears stylish clothes, a choker, and platform heels. Her personality is cheerful and genuinely warm with fans — she poses for photos willingly, asks people about their lives, and engages with real interest. She even persuades Mai Zenin, not a person easily moved by idol charm, during a fan event.
Her favourite sushi is goatfish. Her favourite drink is room temperature sake.
She has no cursed energy and no awareness of the jujutsu world. She is simply a successful idol who happens to be the centre of Todo’s entire emotional universe.
What Is Her Role in the Story?
Takada-chan functions as Todo’s personality anchor — the specific human detail that makes him more than a fighting machine and the running thread that connects his most absurd moments.
Todo’s question to every new person he meets — “What kind of women do you like?” — exists because of Takada-chan. She is the standard. Yuji answering tall women with big butts triggers their entire friendship because it matches Todo’s preference for his favourite idol. Without Takada-chan, the friendship that defines Yuji’s development as a fighter does not begin the way it does.
She appears in Todo’s imagination during the Shibuya Incident fight with Mahito, in a sequence where she and Todo beat Mahito together and shake hands afterward. It is entirely in Todo’s head. It functions as his psychological reset button mid-combat.
Most significantly, the pendant Todo wears during combat contains a photo of both Yuji and Takada-chan side by side. When Mahito sees this pendant mid-fight, he freezes in confusion. That pause creates an opening. A civilian idol’s photo inside a combat pendant directly contributes to a Special Grade curse being caught off guard during the most intense fight in the arc.
Why Does She Matter?
Takada-chan matters because she is the specific detail that makes Todo human rather than a caricature. A massive, obsessive, supremely powerful sorcerer who evaluates everyone through the lens of whether they share his taste in women, who carries a fan photo into life-or-death situations, who imagines his favourite idol fighting alongside him mid-battle — these details all trace back to Nobuko Takada being a real and specific person in the manga’s world rather than an abstract concept.
