As Yuji prepares to kill Eso, he’s struck by Eso’s unexpected grief, which causes him to pause. The duo realizes that Kechizu and Eso are more than just cursed spirits when Kechizu’s body doesn’t vanish after death, revealing they are flesh-and-blood beings.
Their fight is interrupted by a truck emerging from a tunnel, and Eso takes the passengers hostage to escape. Yuji is unable to pursue, giving Eso hope. However, Nobara shifts the tide by using her Straw Doll Technique: Resonance on Eso’s severed arm, driving nails through his chest and ending the fight once and for all.
